OVERHEAT – INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES FOR CONTAINERSHIP FIRES PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT focus on increasing the safety of humans and cargoes on containerships while reducing the impacts of fires on coastal areas. OVERHEAT addresses the development of an integrated digital solution emphasising prevention, early detection, and rapid response to fire accidents, accounting for best practices and safety culture assessments of crew awareness.
Its expected impact focuses on creating safe, seamless, smart, inclusive, resilient, climate neutral and sustainable mobility systems for people and goods thanks to user-centric technologies and services including digital technologies and advanced satellite navigation services.
Since there are multiple common areas, the two projects held a meeting on the 8th of October 2024 and discussed potential synergy areas.
The teams agreed to follow each other across all major social media platforms to ensure consistent engagement and promote each other’s activities within their respective networks. They also suggested newsletter exchanges and further discussed opportunities for collaboration at upcoming events such as workshops and consortium meetings.
The visions of the two projects highlight the following points:
- Focus on Indoor Environmental Quality: Both projects aim to enhance indoor environments. HS4U by improving air quality for health, and OVERHEAT by addressing thermal comfort and overheating risks.
- Integration of Technology: Each project leverages advanced technologies; HS4U uses IoT sensors for air quality monitoring, while OVERHEAT employs predictive modelling tools to assess overheating risks.
- Collaborative Outreach and Awareness: HS4U and OVERHEAT are committed to raising awareness through cross-promotion on social media, newsletters, and websites, enhancing visibility and understanding of their goals related to safe maritime transport.
By revolutionising digital fire management solutions for containerships and promoting healthier ship designs for large passenger and cruise ships, OVERHEAT and HS4U are paving the way for a safer and healthier future at sea.
Stay tuned for our common actions!
